Hi there! My name is Brittany (Bert), the owner of Berties. During quarantine, I found myself wondering if I was fulfilling the purpose God had for my life. There were a few weeks where I really struggled with trying to feel gratitude that I still had a job and then feeling like I wasn't in the right spot in my career. One day, I decided to do a little research about what it would take to start an online boutique. I needed the extra income and I LOVE shopping, so I said why the heck not?
Then, on to naming this venture... I wanted a name that was meaningful to me and thought on this for awhile. My best friend, Hannah, has always called me Bert. Why? She probably couldn't even tell you, but now my online dream is named after it. It's short and sweet and catchy. I love it.
For the last 3 years, I've worked in the athletic department at University of Houston. I loved my job and more importantly, the people I got to grind through football and basketball seasons with. The side gig I thought I was creating with Berties quickly turned in to a full time commitment when my time at UH unexpectedly came to a close just this last week. Although devastated, I felt like God was giving me an opportunity to pour my heart and soul in to this business I've worked so hard on.
